Frederick County Farm Bureau has a wonderful annual meeting!
Frederick County Farm Bureau held the 103rd annual meeting on October 18, 2024, at the New Midway Fire Hall. A delicious meal of turkey, shrimp, and all the trimmings was enjoyed by all. Katie Stevens from the Frederick County Office of Agriculture was the emcee for the evening. At the business meeting, there was an election of officers: David Burrier president, Eric Aellen 1st Vice President, Bill Allen 2nd Vice President. Brian Sweeney, Lisa Gaver, John Zimmerman, and Amy Jo Poffenberger were re-elected to the board. Scott Montgomery was elected to take Bill Allen’s position on the board.
The top three legislative priorities: Property Rights, Wildlife Management, and Agricultural Education were voted on and passed by the members. All policy reviewed was voted on and passed by the membership as well. Kelli Wilson, retiring secretary, and Larry Howard, retiring treasurer were recognized and thanked for their many years of service. The incoming secretary is Belinda Burrier and the treasurer position is filled by Joann Harshman. We thank them for stepping up to these positions.

Frederick County Soil Conservation District Scholarship due April 15th.
Recently, the Free Family decided to establish a scholarship fund in memory of Joe Free to be administered by the Frederick County Farm Bureau and gave a very generous donation to start the fund. This scholarship is to be available to Frederick County Farm Bureau members who are pursuing a degree in any agricultural curriculum.
We know there are many in our Farm Bureau family and beyond who may wish to participate in this memorial to Joe. To do so, all that is necessary is to send a check made payable to Frederick County Farm Bureau and send it to the attention of our Treasurer Larry Howard at PO Box 3340, Frederick, MD 21705. Please note on the check “Free Memorial.” Your contributions will be greatly appreciated and properly acknowledged to the family.
We are grateful for your participation in this very worthwhile initiative.
