On January 20th, 2025, the Maryland Department of Agriculture (MDA) has detected another case of HPAI on a Dorchester County Farm, making this the fourth detection in Maryland since January 10th. This comes just days after after Maryland’s first and third case of HPAI was found on a Caroline County broiler farm and second was found in Queen Anne’s County. Please continue to follow proper biosecurity to keep your farm measures on your operation.

Effective January 8th, 2025, MDA has issued requirements on stockpiling and transporting chicken litter for 30 days. Chicken manure is to be stored and covered to prevent access from wild birds. Conveyances are to be cleaned and disinfected before and after transporting litter. Read the order here.
